UK Signs New Science, Technology Pact with Taiwan

11:50 PM EDT, 10/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK signed a new science, innovation and technology arrangement with Taiwan, bolstering the two countries' bilateral ties as part of their annual trade talks. The non-legally binding framework enables research and development collaboration on semiconductors, space, telecommunications, net zero, artificial intelligence standards and other areas of mutual interest between the UK and Taiwan, according to an Oct. 2 release. The UK and Taiwan also signed a memorandum of understanding to boost UK Export Finance and Taiwan EximBank's partnership on export credit opportunities.
