On October 1, Novo Nordisk announced the results of an ex post facto analysis of a subgroup of 55 participants in the STEP UP trial. The data showed that in obese adult patients without diabetes, Wegovy® reduced liver fat content. Magnetic resonance imaging showed that the average liver fat content of the group receiving simeglutide decreased from 8.8% at baseline to 3.1% at week 72. Furthermore, the analysis showed that among the 26 subjects who had liver fat content of more than 5% at the time of enrolment, 88.5% of the liver fat content fell below 5% at week 72, returning liver fat to normal levels. The findings were presented at the 2026 European Association for the Study of Diabetes Annual Meeting in Milan, Italy.
