Ifo: More Companies in Germany Planning to Increase Prices as Energy Costs Rise

03:17 AM EDT, 09/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- There were "somewhat more" companies in Germany that intend to raise their prices in September amid higher energy costs, the ifo Institute said Wednesday. The ifo price expectations index climbed to 22.7 points in September from 21.4 points in the previous month. The economic research institute expects price pressures for goods and services to continue as energy costs are projected to rise in the winter. Price expectations increased particularly among energy-intensive manufacturers, as well as non-energy-intensive businesses and retailers. On the flip side, service providers forecast price increases "less frequently."
