Spanish Annual Inflation Rate Rises to 4.9% in September, Flash Data Shows

03:13 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Spain's annual inflation accelerated to 4.9% in September from 4.3% in August, according to provisional data from the National Statistics Institute published Tuesday. The reading is above the consensus estimate of 4.6%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices in Spain were up 0.3%, against the previous 0.7% uptick. The Spanish annual harmonized inflation rate came in at 5%, higher than the previous 4.6%. Month over month, harmonized consumer prices grew 0.6%, compared with the 0.7% gain earlier. Meanwhile, the country's annual core inflation rate rose to 3.1% from 2.9%.
