The Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Statistics released a summary of Guangdong's economic performance from January to August 2026. From January to August, fixed asset investment in the province fell 10.7% year on year. The decline was 0.6 percentage points narrower than in January-July, and narrowed for 3 consecutive months. Excluding investment in real estate development, fixed asset investment fell 6.8%. Infrastructure investment declined by 3.5%, with investment in water management, Internet and related services growing by 21.9% and 391.8% respectively. Investment in high-tech manufacturing grew rapidly by 9.9%. Among them, investment in electronics and communication equipment manufacturing, computer and office equipment manufacturing increased by 10.3% and 41.9% respectively. Investment in real estate development fell 20.9%, 0.8 percentage points narrower than in January-July; the sales area of newly built commercial housing fell 12.7%, and the decline narrowed by 0.2 percentage points, for 6 consecutive months.
