Shares of BioAffinity Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:BIAF) are surging Thursday afternoon following the grant of a key Hong Kong patent for its CyPath Lung diagnostic. The rally is also boosting BioAffinity’s Warrants (NASDAQ:BIAFW), up nearly 20% late Thursday.
Here’s what investors need to know.
The newly granted Hong Kong patent covers BioAffinity’s platform technology, which uses flow cytometry and fluorescent markers to identify malignant cells in patient sputum.
Complementing a 2025 patent in China, BioAffinity says the grant establishes dual IP protection in a region accounting for nearly two-thirds of global lung cancer cases (~1.6 million annually).
Per BioAffinity, CyPath Lung provides a noninvasive tool to assess indeterminate lung nodules under 20 millimeters, boasting 92% sensitivity, 87% specificity, 88% accuracy and a 99% negative predictive value in clinical trials.
Marketed as a CLIA-regulated laboratory developed test, the diagnostic is now protected across the U.S., Europe, Japan, China and Hong Kong.
BIAF Price Action: bioAffinity Technologies shares were up 50.47% at $8.05 at the time of publication on Thursday. The stock is trading near its 52-week low of $4.55, according to Benzinga Pro data.
