Lean hog futures are showing mixed trade, with October 7 cents and other contracts down 60 cents. USDA’s national base hog price was not reported on Thursday morning due to thin volume. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 59 cents on September 14 at $85.81.
Weekly Export Sales data showed 30,104 MT of pork sold for 2026 in the week ending on September 10. Shipments were pegged at 27,591 MT, a 9-week low.
USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back up $1.93 in the Thursday AM report, at $88.28. The loin and rib were the only primals reported lower. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Wednesday was estimated at 488,000 head, taking the weekly total to 1.458 million head. That was 8,906 head below the same week last year.
