AstraZeneca, Daiichi Sankyo Secure NICE Recommendation for Enhertu as Breast Cancer Treatment

11:14 PM EDT, 09/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- AstraZeneca's (AZN.L, AZN.ST) collaboration with Japanese drugmaker Daiichi Sankyo secured a recommendation from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in the UK for Enhertu as a treatment for adults with HER2-low advanced or metastatic breast cancer. The recommendation disclosed on Thursday followed an agreement on a commercial solution for the use of the medication in the specified patient group, particularly those with disease that progressed after treatment. It also followed changes to NICE's recommendation methods under the UK/US Pharmaceutical Pricing Agreement. The independent public body's recommendation was supported by clinical trial data that showed the medication helps extend the lives of breast cancer patients, compared with just chemotherapy.
