According to people familiar with the matter, the developer of the Claude chatbot is seeking to raise in this IPO on a scale similar to or even higher than SpaceX, and the IPO is likely to take place as soon as October.

Choosing to go public on the NASDAQ would be another win for the company this year — all four of the largest US IPOs this year took place on the exchange, including SpaceX's record $86.3 billion offering in June. A few weeks later, SK Hynix followed suit and completed its listing in July, raising $26.5 billion.

As Anthropic prepares for an IPO, OpenAI Inc. CEO Sam Ultrman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Elon Musk all said on Saturday that it is necessary to slow down the pace of AI development in view of the escalating risks posed by artificial intelligence technology. Ultraman said in an interview that due to safety considerations, his company will not go public this year.

Anthropic had planned to finalize a $15 billion revolving credit facility earlier this month.

The AI race has ignited the IPO market.
