At Mt. Tokachi in Hokkaido, Japan, large-scale volcanic earthquakes continue to increase. At 9:30 a.m. local time this morning, the Meteorological Observatory issued a warning for the area around the crater, raising the eruption alert level from level 2 to level 3, and calling for caution against large sprays within about 3 km of the crater. According to the Sapporo District Meteorological Observatory, volcanic earthquakes with large amplitudes at Mt. Tokachi have continued to increase since the 17th of last month, and at around 8:20 a.m. this morning, the largest volcanic earthquake in a series of events was observed. Since March of this year, changes in the earth's crust showing expansion have continued to occur deep in the vicinity of the mountain; since April of this year, volcanic gas emissions have also increased, volcanic activity is becoming more and more active, and a very small eruption occurred in July.
