Intesa Sanpaolo Approves Equity Raising for Monte dei Paschi Bid

07:50 AM EDT, 09/10/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Intesa Sanpaolo (ISP.MI) shareholders on Thursday approved the planned share issuance to fund its takeover offer for Italian banking peer Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (BMPS.MI). The approval enables the Intesa board to issue up to 5.7 billion shares, in one or more tranches, by Sept. 10, 2027, according to a Thursday release. Intesa launched its voluntary public tender and exchange offer for Monte dei Paschi in June.
