BHP to Further Extend Labor Talks with Port Hedland Workers

The mining giant told the news agency in a statement that its "strong" and updated offer represents a major step toward reaching a "fair and reasonable" agreement with the port employees, including a 17% salary hike over four years, a transition payment of AU$25,000 over two years, and increased allowances. However, Electrical Trades Union Western Australia's Secretary Adam Woodage said the proposal would put an estimated 40% of the workers at a disadvantage, according to the report. BHP did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
