In the first 8 months, Macau's gaming revenue increased by 3.7% year-on-year to MOP 169.05 billion.
According to a research report published by Haitong International, gambling revenue in Macau fell 1.2% year-on-year in August, slightly lower than market expectations. The year-on-year decline in August was narrower than in July, mainly driven by the peak summer season. The bank pointed out that the summer season continues to drive market recovery. Haitong International expects industry gambling revenue to increase by 6% year-on-year in September and return to 87.8% in 2019, mainly affected by the low base caused by the 33-hour shutdown of casinos disrupted by the typhoon in the same period last year.
