According to a recent J.P. Morgan Chase research report, US unemployment claims and corporate layoff data continue to show that the labor market is resilient, and there are currently no signs of significant deterioration in layoffs. The number of jobless claims at the beginning of the week of August 29 rose slightly from 204,000 to 206,000, but it is still significantly lower than the same period last year; the number of people applying for unemployment benefits increased by 8,000 in the week of August 22. The bank believes that seasonal factors may cause the number of initial applicants to slowly decline for the rest of the year; the number of renewals is similar to the seasonal trend of the past two years. If this pattern continues, it may gradually rise from the end of September to November, but this does not mean that the labor market will suddenly weaken.
