French Construction PMI Drops to Lowest Level Since May 2020

03:46 AM EDT, 09/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- France's construction sector fell deeper into contraction territory in August 2026, as total activity recorded its steepest decline since May 2020, with steeper drops in new business and employment, S&P Global said Friday. The S&P Global France Construction PMI Total Activity Index plunged to 37.3 in August from 41.5 in July.
