On September 2, the country's first batch of imported Peruvian bananas arrived in Shanghai via the “Qiankai-Shanghai” shipping route. This is the first time that Peruvian fresh bananas have entered the Chinese market after being approved. As a benchmark project for the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” between China and Mexico, since the opening of the “Qiankai-Shanghai” shipping route at the end of 2024, as of September 1 this year, Shanghai Customs has supervised a total of 355,000 tons of imported and exported goods, with a value of nearly 10 billion yuan. The number of types of cargo increased from 34 types at the beginning of the voyage to 75. According to statistics from Shanghai Customs, the cumulative import and export value of the “Qiankai-Shanghai” shipping route reached 3.35 billion yuan in the first seven months of this year, an increase of 44.7% over the previous year. Driven by this route, the value of Shanghai's imports and exports to Peru increased by 31.1% in the first seven months compared to the same period last year.
