UK Competition Watchdog Launches Probe into E.ON UK-OVO Energy Deal

04:54 AM EDT, 09/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The UK Competition and Markets Authority launched an inquiry into E.ON (EOAN.F) unit E.ON UK's planned purchase of fellow energy supplier OVO Energy. The regulator said Wednesday it aims to assess whether the transaction would result in a substantial lessening of competition in the UK goods or services market. The watchdog has set a deadline of Oct. 28 for its phase 1 decision.
