China's Chery Automobile to Open R&D Center in UK

06:47 AM EDT, 08/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Chinese car brand Chery Automobile will establish and open a research and development center in Britain in late autumn, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing Chery International UK Chief Executive Officer Gary Lan. The facility will be built at UTAC Millbrook, a large vehicle testing and development center in Bedfordshire. Chery will initially focus on developing vehicle chassis and driver-assistance systems tailored for the British market before expanding into autonomous driving and AI technologies.
