11:05 AM EDT, 08/18/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Saudi Arabia's central bank is said to be implementing additional checks on fund transfers to banks in the United Arab Emirates as part of measures to bolster regulatory oversight aimed at preventing financial crimes, Reuters reported Tuesday. Three people with direct knowledge of the matter told the news outlet that the Saudi Central Bank's extra layer of checks is carried out for transactions involving jurisdictions that are considered high risk for potential money laundering, terrorism financing and other crimes. The Saudi Central Bank reportedly informed key lenders in the country earlier in 2026 to perform the enhanced checks when handling settlements with the UAE, Reuters noted. Both countries' central banks did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
