According to a report by Iran's Tasneem News Agency on the 14th, citing Iran's Environment Agency, preliminary assessments showed that 3.2 hectares of beaches and 9 hectares of coastal waters off Iran's Qeshm Island were polluted by crude oil. The report quoted an Iranian environmental agency official as saying that the source of pollution is believed to have come from the sea and drifted to the coast under the influence of ocean currents and monsoons. The official said monitoring, control and clean-up work is still ongoing.
