Seoul first issued the highest-level “Major High Temperature Warning” at 11:00 a.m. local time on the 4th, and fully launched the three major emergency measures of “work stoppage, cooling, and care.” The Korea Meteorological Agency said that the “High Temperature Major Warning” is the highest-level high temperature warning newly established on June 1 this year. This alert is issued when the highest sensed temperature reaches 35 degrees Celsius or higher, the highest sensed temperature reaches 38 degrees Celsius or higher, or the highest temperature reaches 39 degrees Celsius or higher for two consecutive days. This is also the first time since the implementation of this system that the city of Seoul has entered a state of major alert for high temperatures.
