Africa's first desert heavy-duty railway, the Western Algeria Railway Mining Line, officially began construction of communication, signal and power system projects on the 2nd. The total length of the railway mining line is 950 kilometers, of which 575 kilometers were constructed by China Railway Construction and local state-owned enterprises. This is the largest infrastructure project carried out by a Chinese company in Afghanistan. Since the opening of traffic in February of this year, the project has improved Algeria's national railway network and helped the south-western provinces of Afghanistan connect and develop their economy.
