Three departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently jointly issued the “Notice on Organizing and Carbonizing the 2026 Recommended Work for Energy Efficiency and Carbon Efficiency Leading Enterprises in Key Industries”, which aims to promote industrial enterprises to implement energy saving and carbon reduction transformation and promote green and low-carbon transformation in key industries. This is the first time that China has selected leading companies in carbon efficiency. The notice proposes to further expand the coverage of energy efficiency leaders in key industries, add industry segments such as industrial sulfuric acid, industrial glacial acetic acid, formaldehyde, styrene, and monocrystalline silicon, and expand the scope of recommendations to 43 industry segments. Based on the work of energy efficiency leaders, it also innovatively carried out carbon efficiency leader recommendation work, and 5 industries, including electrolytic aluminum, cement clinker, synthetic ammonia, ethylene, and methanol, were recommended as the first batch of carbon efficiency leader companies.
