The new regulations first clearly define the scope of short dramas: series with a single episode of less than 20 minutes in length, with a consistent and complete plot, covering all terminals such as mobile phones, televisions, car screens, smart wearables, etc., and all broadcast channels such as applets, short video platforms, IPTV, and cable TV are managed uniformly. In terms of broadcast requirements, the new regulations classify short dramas into one category of short dramas, type two short dramas, and three types of short short dramas according to investment amount, subject matter, etc., and implement a filing, publicity, and distribution license system.
