According to sources, Ukraine plans to use 2.5 billion euros from the EU's 3.47 billion euro aid loan to Ukraine to purchase 16 “Eagle Lion” E-fighter jets manufactured by Sweden's Saab. The Ukrainian side expects delivery of this batch of fighter jets to begin in 2027. A European Commission spokesperson has confirmed that part of the aid funds to Ukraine will be used to purchase the “Eagle Lion” fighter, but did not disclose the exact amount or number of fighter jets.
