The Ministry of Commerce recently completed the 2025 comprehensive development level assessment and evaluation of national economic and technological development zones, and assessed the 2024 comprehensive development level of 228 national economic development zones. The assessment and evaluation results show that the national economic development zone, as a platform for opening up at a high level to the outside world, generally shows a good development trend of steady growth in total economy, continuous optimization of development quality, and continuous enhancement of the driving role of openness. According to the relevant provisions of the “Dynamic Management Measures for National Economic and Technological Development Zones”, Guangdong Jiedong, Henan Puyang, Inner Mongolia's Hulunbuir, Liaoning Yingkou, and Heilongjiang Daqing Economic Development Zones, which are lagging behind in the assessment, have withdrawn from the national economic development zone sequence.
