The Hamilton, Bermuda-based company said it had net income of $14.22 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $14.85 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $14.59 per share.

The reinsurance company posted revenue of $3.96 billion in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.09 billion.
