Looking at Terragen Holdings Limited's (ASX:TGH ) insider transactions over the last year, we can see that insiders were net buyers. That is, there were more number of shares purchased by insiders than there were sold.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Terragen Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The insider Christopher Wallin made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$190k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.022 each. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being AU$0.02). Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. Christopher Wallin was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.

Insider Ownership Of Terragen Holdings

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Terragen Holdings insiders own about AU$6.2m worth of shares. That equates to 38% of the company. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
