Sanmina stock just absorbed a 17% hit in a single session, even as the latest quarter delivered some of the strongest profit metrics in its recent history. The market is reacting as if something broke. The earnings print says something different.
Q3 revenue came in at US$3.46b with non GAAP operating margin at 8.0% and non GAAP diluted EPS at US$3.31. For an electronics manufacturing and cloud infrastructure supplier, that margin step up is the real headline. The sharp price drop looks less like a verdict on weak fundamentals and more like an emotional reset after a strong run.

The bullish story says Sanmina can turn AI and cloud infrastructure demand plus the ZT Systems deal into higher quality growth and structurally better margins. The latest quarter gives some concrete proof points. Communication Networks, Cloud and AI contributed 62% of revenue and, together with ZT, helped lift non GAAP operating margin to 8.0%. That is a clear step up from prior year levels and suggests the vertically integrated model is starting to work in practice, not just in presentations.
Integration milestones also look on track. ZT contributed about US$1.1b of revenue within US$2.96b of IMS, and management says the three phase integration plan is progressing as intended, with early benefits from combining systems integration with Sanmina’s subassembly and global footprint. CPS margins are temporarily weighed down by higher depreciation and investment, yet are already improving sequentially. For now, execution is lining up with the bullish AI and cloud ramp narrative.
Compare Sanmina’s margin lift and AI driven revenue mix with how institutional analysts are updating their models. See the consensus price target analysis for SanminaThe bearish story around Sanmina says earnings are too dependent on a narrow set of AI and cloud programs, with ZT Systems integration and heavy capex raising the risk that current margins are hard to sustain. The latest quarter does not fully clear those worries. Communication Networks, Cloud and AI still account for 62% of revenue, so concentration risk remains real. Management points to strong nonrecurring engineering and preproduction work as a key margin driver, which is inherently lumpy and not the same as high quality recurring volume.
Several milestones are also still open. Next generation accelerated compute revenue is explicitly pushed to Q1 FY2027. Energy transformers and Houston remain future stories. Free cash flow was US$23.7m after US$100.9m of capex and an increase in inventory to US$2.2b. With the stock falling 17.4% after earnings and multi month returns also down, the market is treating these execution and concentration risks as unresolved rather than fully priced in.
After such sharp share price pressure and heavy reliance on a few AI and cloud programs, it is worth asking whether Sanmina’s integration, insider selling and one off earnings items are early signals of deeper issues.
