Adobe Inc (NASDAQ:ADBE) shares are trading higher on Tuesday as software stocks find their footing after last week’s IBM-driven jitters eased. Here’s what investors need to know.
The tone around enterprise software is improving after IBM reframed its recent profit warning as a timing issue tied to late-quarter budget reshuffling, with CEO Arvind Krishna saying about one-third of previously unsigned agreements were executed in early July.
Bulls also took comfort from ServiceNow posting adjusted earnings of 90 cents per share on $3.99 billion in revenue, alongside 24.5% subscription revenue growth, with SAP also recently reporting strong results.
Market-wise, the setup is mixed Tuesday afternoon: the Dow Jones is up 1.31% and the S&P 500 is up 0.32%, but the Nasdaq-100 is down 0.68% as leadership rotates away from growth-heavy tech even with market breadth positive.
From a trend perspective, the rally is pushing ADBE further above its short- and mid-term averages (about 12.5% above the 20-day SMA and 10.8% above the 50-day SMA), which supports the idea that the June low is acting like a meaningful pivot. The bigger issue is the longer-term tape: the stock is still about 8.9% below the 200-day SMA, and the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA—classic "downtrend until proven otherwise" structure.
Momentum is improving: MACD is above its signal line and the histogram is positive, which typically means downside pressure is fading and buyers are gaining traction versus the prior downswing. The key question for longer-term bulls is whether this bounce can turn into a sustained trend change, or whether it stalls before reclaiming the 200-day area.
Below is the Benzinga Edge scorecard for Adobe, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses compared to the broader market:
The Verdict: Adobe’s Benzinga Edge signal reveals a quality-led setup with weak momentum and growth scores, which often translates to "needs confirmation" even after a strong up day. If price can reclaim the 200-day area near the mid-$270s, the scorecard could start to look more balanced; if not, rallies may remain more tactical than trend-changing.
ADBE Stock Price Activity: Adobe shares were up 6.55% at $253.38 at the time of publication on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
