The 2026 APEC Forestry Ministerial Meeting will be held in Shenzhen from 27th to 28th. The conference adopted the “2026 APEC Forestry Ministerial Meeting Joint Statement”, which expects all economies to promote biodiversity protection, strengthen enforcement efforts to combat illegal trade in forest products, and incorporate forest management and sustainable forest management into economic development plans, policy frameworks and recommendations. According to the joint statement, economies are taking into account their specific circumstances and development priorities to increase investment and financing opportunities for forestry development and legal forest products trade; support the transformation and upgrading of forest products processing and value chain upgrading; strengthen cooperation in urban forestry and water resources management in the Asia-Pacific region, rely on technological innovation and sustainable forest management to restore ecosystems and mitigate habitat fragmentation; and encourage the development of emerging forest industries, products and services in line with the principles of sustainable forest management.
