GlaxoSmithKline announced on July 28 that it will establish a new flagship R&D center at the Cambridge Biomedical Park in the UK to accelerate its R&D pipeline. The site will be equipped with state-of-the-art technical laboratories and infrastructure to support the company's research in key areas such as oncology, respiratory diseases, hepatology, vaccines, and HIV. Due to plans to move to Cambridge, GlaxoSmithKline will vacate its R&D site in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, and employees will be relocated in stages by 2029. At the same time, the company will also upgrade its existing R&D laboratory in Vail, Hertfordshire, and transfer some employees to the site to establish a comprehensive R&D center integrating drug development and large-scale commercial production. The company plans to invest £400 million over 3 years to support these changes.
