The Zhitong Finance App learned that Benchmark re-covered quantum computing stocks and gave Rigetti Computing (RGTI.US), IonQ (IONQ.US), and D-Wave Quantum (QBTS.US) “buy” ratings, with target prices of $25, $60, and $30, respectively.
“What needs to be clear is that we are optimistic about the field of quantum computing,” Benchmark analyst Gary Mobley said in the report. “We have seen that, based on the recent development trend of the industry, the feasibility of implementing quantum technology continues to be consolidated (such as fault-tolerant technology required to achieve general quantum advantage (QA), which can solve actual business problems in various real scenarios). The quantum computing industry is by no means a 'winner-take-all' pattern. Before quantum computing is still in its early stages and general quantum advantages have not been widely realized, the best strategy for investors to lay out this circuit is to use portfolio investment ideas and distribute related targets. That's the logic behind our ratings of the companies we cover.”
Mobley added, “In our view, 2025 to 2026 will be a key year for technology implementation in the quantum computing industry to be widely recognized. The industry has seen a record influx of capital, with funding sources ranging from venture capital, open stock markets, and even sovereign government investment. Of these, the US government alone invested 2 billion US dollars in industrial capital. Furthermore, the United Nations designated 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, and the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics also awarded results related to quantum physics experiments. By promoting international cooperation, these events encouraged policymakers and institutions to focus on quantum technology in their research and innovation agendas, thereby enhancing the status of the industry. The quantum computing industry is moving from a pure physical experiment stage to an early stage of large-scale production at the enterprise level. However, a general-purpose quantum computer with extensive transformational capabilities, fault-tolerant capabilities, and capable of solving all kinds of complex problems will still take several years to be implemented.”
In April of this year, Nvidia released iSS, the world's first open source quantum AI model. According to Nvidia, the model achieves world-leading quantum processor calibration capabilities, and can also achieve up to 2.5 times faster and 3 times more accurate in the decoding process required for quantum error correction, thus enabling researchers to handle larger and more complex problems.
Nvidia's founder and CEO Hwang In-hoon said at the time: “AI is critical to achieving practical quantum computing. With Ising, AI becomes the center of control — an operating system equivalent to a quantum machine, turning fragile qubits into scalable and reliable quantum-GPU systems.”
According to the forecast of the analytical agency Resonance, the quantum computing market is expected to exceed 11 billion US dollars by 2030. This growth will be highly dependent on continued breakthroughs in key engineering challenges such as quantum error correction and scalability.
By the close of the US stock market on Monday, Rigetti Computing had closed up nearly 11%, with a cumulative decline of 29% during the year; IonQ closed up more than 9%, with a cumulative decline of 20% during the year; D-Wave Quantum closed up more than 20%, with a cumulative decline of 20% during the year.
