The Zhitong Finance App learned that the Minister of Land and Natural Resources of Ghana, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, led a delegation to visit Hong Kong to conduct a commercial and trade inspection with the aim of deepening bilateral cooperation between Ghana and Hong Kong in the fields of financial services, gold industry chain development and resource development, responding positively to the “Belt and Road” initiative to achieve high quality, mutual benefit and win-win situation. Chairman Cheung Tak-hee of the Hong Kong Gold Exchange said that the Hong Kong Gold Exchange and the Ghanaian delegation have reached a high level of agreement. The two sides will work to promote all-round connections in the gold market and look forward to jointly building a seamless, efficient and trustworthy “gold corridor” to create sustainable commercial value for gold producers, refiners, traders and investors in the two regions, and further strengthen Hong Kong's position as an international gold trading center.
The delegation visited the Hong Kong Gold Exchange and held high-level talks with Hong Kong Gold Exchange Chairman Cheung Tak-hee and CEO Fung Wai-neng. During the meeting, the two sides held forward-looking discussions on building a new ecosystem for regional and global gold markets.
The Ghanaian delegation revealed that it plans to visit Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area cities again in the fourth quarter of this year. At that time, it will conduct a comprehensive interface with Hong Kong Gold on the details of the gold trading mechanism and the application of gold derivatives. It is hoped that in the future, it will promote cooperation between authoritative gold mining institutions in Ghana and the Hong Kong Gold Institute. This move will help Ghanaian gold mining companies to use the Hong Kong Gold Institute's international platform to deepen cooperation with global industry partners, directly transform gold raw materials into international delivery bars that meet Hong Kong Gold Institute standards through standardized production and refining, and achieve “deposit in Hong Kong” development and value addition of diversified gold assets.
