Gubra Launches Early-stage Trial of Obesity Drug Candidate

01:26 AM EDT, 07/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Gubra (GUBRA.CO) initiated a first-in-human phase 1/2a trial to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy of its investigational peptide drug candidate GUB-UCN2. The study will explore the drug's potential across multiple patient populations and indications, including obesity and other disease areas, according to a Tuesday release. The Danish biotechnology company plans to enroll 188 healthy participants living with obesity. The trial comprises three components, including a single-ascending dose study, a multiple-ascending dose study, and a multiple-dose study with treatment lasting up to 16 weeks. GUB-UCN2 will be evaluated both as a standalone therapy and in combination with incretin-based therapy for obesity. Data from the single ascending-dose portion is expected in the first half of 2027.
