SpaceXAI (SPCX.US) launches Excel version of the Grok plug-in fully embedded in the Office three-piece suite

The Zhitong Finance App learned that Musk's SpaceXAI (SPCX.US) announced on Monday that it will introduce its generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Grok into Microsoft (MSFT.US) Excel spreadsheet software. Users can now obtain this Microsoft 365 plug-in for free through the Microsoft Marketplace. The plug-in supports both Word and PowerPoint, indicating that Grok is fully embedded in the Microsoft Office 3-piece suite.

According to SpaceXAI, users only need to describe the expected results in everyday language, and Grok can automatically process the corresponding grammatical logic — including average calculation, data sorting, automatic filling, etc. These results will be displayed directly in the formula bar just like regular editing. Additionally, users can select a specific cell range and ask a question to Grok. Grok will reference specific data cells to answer and automatically generate a chart.

The plug-in also supports scenario testing and forecasting. Users can test downside risk cases, rerun predictions, or complete work without having to manually rebuild tables during month-end settlement. The plug-in can connect to external data sources, and users can request Grok to extract contextual information from recent emails or files in SharePoint or Google Drive.

From standalone chatbots to embedded office agents

According to information, prior to that, Grok had successively launched plug-ins for Word and PowerPoint in mid-June. On June 22, Grok was officially integrated into the Microsoft Office 3-pack. Users can directly generate documents, presentations, and process spreadsheet data based on text instructions through the dedicated AI agent in the application sidebar.

This layout makes Grok a direct competitor to Microsoft Copilot, reflecting the fierce game of tech giants competing for the enterprise-grade AI office market. The release of Grok 4.5 further strengthened this strategy — the model was trained on tens of thousands of NVIDIA GB300 GPUs, and in Grok Build, it is possible to build complex Excel models that include network research, multi-sheet formulas, and use native shapes to draw complex charts in PowerPoint. In terms of pricing, Grok 4.5 is offered at a price of $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens, which has a cost advantage over some competitors.
