Novo Nordisk recently announced that the European Commission has granted marketing approval for Wegovy® tablets for the treatment of obese adults or overweight adults with at least one weight-related complication based on a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity. The approval of Wegovy® tablets is an important milestone in the treatment of obesity in Europe, making it the first GLP-1 receptor agonist in tablet form approved for weight management in all EU member states. This approval is also the fifth time that Wegovy® tablets have received registration approval in the global market after the US, UK, UAE, and Bahrain.
