Recently, the first mandatory national standard GB 47955-2026, which regulates L2 level combined driving assistance in China, was officially released, and the implementation node is scheduled for January 1, 2027. This standard was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and nearly 40 car companies and technology companies, including Huawei, Xiaomi, BYD, and Tesla, participated in the preparation. It is the first hard regulation to restrict L2 class assisted driving products. Meanwhile, GB 39901-2025, another major mandatory national standard in the field of driver assistance, was also finalized and officially implemented on January 1, 2028. Two major national mandatory standards have been implemented, marking that domestic intelligent assisted driving will officially bid farewell to the era of barbaric growth and enter a new cycle of high-quality development with safety and compliance as the only entry threshold. He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of Xiaopeng Group, told China Newsweek: “China's intelligent assisted driving is at the forefront of the world in terms of the results achieved by enterprises and the enactment of relevant laws and regulations.” As a mandatory standard, the new national standard incorporates all product research and development, hardware configuration, promotional rhetoric, and data retention into the admission review system. This also means that exaggerated propaganda is no longer just a matter of business ethics; it is a violation that touches the red line of regulations.
