On the afternoon of July 16, President Xi Jinping met with Kazakh President Tokayev, who came to China to attend the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Conference on Artificial Intelligence Global Governance at the Xijiao Hotel in Shanghai. Xi Jinping stressed that firmly promoting comprehensive cooperation between China and Kazakhstan conforms to the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples. The two sides should promote innovative trade development, optimize trade structures, cultivate new forms of cross-border e-commerce and trade in services; expand cooperation in energy and minerals; accelerate the implementation of key projects; promote connectivity, add more direct flights, and raise the level of international road transport facilitation; cultivate new quality productivity. China is willing to share digital economy, artificial intelligence and other technologies to help Kazakhstan achieve digital transformation; and organize the “Year of Cultural Exchange between China and Kazakhstan” to strengthen cooperation in education, technology, medical care, health, sports, media, etc., to consolidate the foundation of friendship between generations.
