US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright said at an international media roundtable in Caracas that the US expects Venezuela to provide a fair business environment to attract investment in the oil, gas and electricity sectors. Wright pointed out that the risk of investing in Venezuela is now lower than it was two months ago. Wright said that Venezuela's “oil quarantine” has actually basically ended, and plans to inspect oil fields and communicate with local workers on Thursday. Wright said that in the long run, debt restructuring agreements will eventually be reached for those companies that have been in arrears. But it's not a problem that can be solved overnight. Wright said that he did not discuss possible elections in Venezuela with Venezuelan Acting President Rodriguez today, but he has discussed this topic in the past.
