China IoT: China's storage index was 52.4% in December, up 2 percentage points from the previous month

The Zhitong Finance App learned that the China Storage Index, which was jointly surveyed by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and China Storage Development Co., Ltd., was 52.4% in December 2025, up 2 percentage points from the previous month.

Looking at the sub-indices, compared with the previous month, the new orders index, business volume index, facility utilization index, year-end inventory index, average inventory turnover index, and enterprise employee index increased, ranging from 1.3 to 3.4 percentage points; the business activity expectations index declined, by 2.6 percentage points.

Yang Biao, deputy general manager of China Storage Development Co., Ltd., believes that the storage index rebounded markedly in December and reached a new high since February. Driven by the recovery in market demand, the warehousing business volume has maintained relatively rapid growth, commodity turnover has increased markedly, enterprises are active in preparing goods, expectations are optimistic, and inventory levels have risen, indicating that the warehousing industry has developed further to a positive operating trend and achieved a good end to the year. Looking at the later stages, policy support such as expanding domestic demand continued to gain strength at the end of the year. Coupled with the continued release of demand for preparation before the Spring Festival, it is expected that there is still room for further recovery in demand in the warehousing business, and the industry will continue to maintain a positive development trend.

The new orders index was 51.8%, up 1.3 percentage points from the previous month. By category, the index of new orders for chemical products, machinery and equipment, agricultural and sideline products, pharmaceuticals, etc. is higher than 50%, and the index of new orders for coal, food, and daily necessities is less than 50%.

The business volume index was 53.6%, up 1.7 percentage points from the previous month. By type, the business volume index for chemical products, agricultural and sideline products, pharmaceuticals, etc. is higher than 50%, and the business volume index for coal, food, etc. is less than 50%.

The facility utilization index was 54%, up 1.6 percentage points from the previous month. By type, the facility utilization index for non-ferrous metals, machinery and equipment, agricultural and sideline products, pharmaceuticals, etc. is higher than 50%, and the facility utilization index for food and other varieties is less than 50%.

The inventory index at the end of the period was 51.9%, up 1.9 percentage points from the previous month. By type, the year-end inventory index for products such as steel, household appliances, daily necessities, pharmaceuticals, etc. is higher than 50%, and the year-end inventory index for non-ferrous metals, minerals, food, etc. is less than 50%.

The average inventory turnover index was 53.4%, up 3.4 percentage points from the previous month. By variety, the average inventory turnover index for steel, chemical products, daily necessities, agricultural and sideline products, pharmaceuticals, etc. is higher than 50%, and the average inventory turnover index for non-ferrous metals, food, etc. is less than 50%.

The corporate employee index was 52.7%, up 1.7 percentage points from the previous month. The business activity expectations index was 52.7%, down 2.6 percentage points from the previous month.
