Borouge, Honeywell Complete AI Autonomous Operations Pilot at Abu Dhabi Facility

03:01 AM EST, 01/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Abu Dhabi-listed petrochemical company Borouge (ADX:BOROUGE) and partner Honeywell completed a proof of concept for artificial intelligence-powered autonomous operations at its Ruwais facility in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The initiative was conducted in a live production environment, following trials launched in 2025. Results show that the technology could deliver efficiency gains of up tp 20%, reduce downtime by 20%, and cut operating costs by as much as 15%, according to a Wednesday release. The technology is also expected to improve process safety and support more sustainable operations through lower energy consumption and emissions.
