The governments of Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and Spain issued a joint statement on the situation in Venezuela on the 4th, stating that the implementation of unilateral military action by the Commission has set an “extremely dangerous precedent” for regional peace and security. The six countries expressed deep concern and opposition to this, and called for a peaceful resolution of the crisis through dialogue and negotiation.
