The reporter learned today from the memorial hall for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre by the Japanese invading China that Pan Qiaoying, a survivor of the Nanjing Massacre, died on the evening of January 1 at the age of 95. In 1937, Pan Qiaoying, hiding in a stove, watched as Japanese soldiers stabbed her grandfather, father, and cousin to death with a bayonet. At only 6 years old, she was so frightened that she even forgot to cry. When she was alive, she recalled, “The Japanese soldier stabbed my grandfather to death, and stabbed my father who had run away. My cousin was stabbed to death as soon as he got home.” Up to now, there are 23 registered living survivors.
