On December 31, it was reported that the US Virgin Islands Attorney General filed a lawsuit against the Meta platform, accusing its Facebook and Instagram social media platforms of deliberately profiting through fraudulent advertisements and failing to effectively guarantee the safety of children's use. The lawsuit clearly states: “The Meta Platform knowingly and intentionally exposed its users to the risk of fraud and harm. This behavior is aimed at maximizing user engagement, which in turn increases the company's revenue.” The lawsuit has been brought before the High Court of the Virgin Islands in St. Croix. In response to the lawsuit, a Meta spokesperson said the above related allegations were unfounded.
