The 2024 “Outline for the Development of Chinese Women” statistical monitoring report released by the National Bureau of Statistics on December 30 shows that the proportion of women employed in the whole society has stabilized at more than 40%. The “Notice on Further Strengthening the Standardized Management of the Human Resources Market” was issued and implemented to strengthen supervision of discrimination in employment, further improve the recruitment information management system, and guarantee the employment rights of female workers. At the end of 2024, 320 million women were employed nationwide, accounting for 43.4% of the total number of employed people, an increase of 0.1 percentage points over the end of 2023. The number of people employed in urban non-private entities was 68.886 million, an increase of 1,848,000; the proportion of people employed in urban non-private entities was 41.7%, an increase of 0.7 percentage points. Occupational safety and health guarantees for female workers have been continuously strengthened. The “Notice on Further Promoting Occupational Health Protection Actions to Raise the Occupational Health Literacy Level of Workers” was issued and implemented, intervention on occupational health literacy among key population groups was stepped up, and the level of occupational health literacy of workers was further improved. All regions are actively introducing local regulations on labor protection for female workers, strengthening the protection of the rights and interests of female workers during menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding, and actively building a network for protecting the rights and interests of female workers covering the entire cycle of the workplace. In 2024, the proportion of enterprises implementing the “Special Provisions on Labor Protection for Female Workers” was 75.3%, an increase of 1.8 percentage points over 2023.
