Elkem Reports Second Casualty Following Explosion at French Site

11:32 PM EST, 12/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Elkem (ELK.OL) on Dec. 26 reported a second casualty after an explosion at its silicones plant in Lyon, France. The explosion occurred on Dec. 24 at the Norwegian silicon-based materials provider's pilot workshop in France. One employee died earlier, while two are still hospitalized. Elkem initiated an internal investigation while local authorities are undertaking external inquiries.
