Even if it's not a huge purchase, we think it was good to see that David Hojelsen, the Chief Technology Officer of Impero A/S (CPH:IMPERO) recently shelled out kr.548k to buy stock, at kr.7.85 per share. While we're hesitant to get too excited about a purchase of that size, we do note it increased their holding by a solid 11%.

Impero Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent purchase by David Hojelsen is the biggest insider purchase of Impero shares that we've seen in the last year. That implies that an insider found the current price of kr.7.95 per share to be enticing. Of course they may have changed their mind. But this suggests they are optimistic. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. The good news for Impero share holders is that an insider was buying at near the current price. David Hojelsen was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.

David Hojelsen bought 109.10k shares over the last 12 months at an average price of kr.7.64. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!

Insider Ownership

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Impero insiders own 42% of the company, currently worth about kr.79m based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Impero Insiders?

The recent insider purchase is heartening. And the longer term insider transactions also give us confidence. However, we note that the company didn't make a profit over the last twelve months, which makes us cautious. Along with the high insider ownership, this analysis suggests that insiders are quite bullish about Impero. That's what I like to see! While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. Be aware that Impero is showing 2 warning signs in our investment analysis, and 1 of those is potentially serious...
