The number of Canadians traveling to the US continues to decline, but the number of US visitors to Canada increased in October for the first time in eight months. According to Statistics Canada, the number of trips made by Canadians to the US fell 26.3% year-on-year in October. In the same month, the number of overseas trips made by Canadians increased by 9.1% year-on-year, and the number of trips made by overseas residents to Canada increased by 11.7%. However, the number of US residents' trips to Canada increased by 3% in October. In the same month, the number of Americans entering Canada by car was 1.2 million, the same as before. Slightly more than half of these were same-day round trips; however, the number of people entering by air rose 6.3%, while the number of Americans entering Canada by cruise ship soared 22.2%.
