Nvidia informed Chinese customers that it plans to begin shipping H200 AI chips to China before the Lunar New Year holiday in mid-February. The batch is taken from existing inventory and is expected to ship 5,000 to 10,000 chip modules, which is equivalent to about 40,000 to 80,000 H200 AI chips. However, China has yet to approve any H200 purchases. Nvidia also told Chinese customers that it plans to add new production capacity to these chips and will open orders for this production capacity in the second quarter of 2026. According to reports, the entire plan depends on government approval, and nothing is certain until official approval is obtained.
